OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES

EDUCATION

All the activities  of Manthan   revolve  around its prime objective of identifying  physically  challenged girls, nurture them by providing  atmosphere conducive  to their development, educate  them  so as to  regain self confidence, rehabilitate  them  and of course qualify them to be a part of the main stream as also   make them  good  honest citizens of India.

Education plays the   most important role in achieving this objective and so maximum emphasis is given to the same.

IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL GIRLS GETTING ADMISSION TO MANTHAN TO FURTHER THEIR STUDIES

Manthan has set up primary school as well as secondary school in its own premises. The schools are recognized and approved by Government.

The doors of the schools are opened to even the boys and girls of near by villages including Hajipur where Manthan could establish its roots.

After 18 years, a few of the girls have passed secondary level and are admitted to Higher secondary and even degree course where as some are seeking their Masters degree..

To accommodate the desire of these girls of prosecuting their studies, Manthan has arranged for a school bus which take these girls to a near by town Kalol and enables them to fulfill their desire.

The information about   the number of Girls admitted to Manthan and those who passed  primary secondary and higher secondary schools  and college  is now on record with Manthan. Any one interested in getting this information can have the same by requesting Manthan

Teachers  take personal care of each student, even takes extra classes to strengthen the weak  subject  like English. .Trained retired teachers who know their subject well also give honorary service and make these girls study hard and succeed in  the examination.

The annual results of the school always  hover  around  60% or more.

GENERATING  SELF  CONFIDENCE

The girls need to generate SELF  CONFIDENCE  to face and compete  in  the world of to day.  This  requires  all to gather new technique and the same is implemented  by:

    • Entrusting responsibilities of day to day work
    • Providing training in to- days area of scientific  developments  such as Computer
    • Training in areas of HOME SCIENCE so as to be a good house wife
    • Make them present cultural programs at National and International  levels  with a view to relieve them of inferiority complex  and build self confidence
    • Promote them to participate in State and National competitions for Physically challenged   persons
    • Train  them in performing  arts of Music Dance and playing  musical instruments etc
    • Many of these girls belong to Farming families  and they are also educated in the areas of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture  etc.
Bhagvati Patel was born with one hand and the other a stub below the.elbow..(Koni).She was encouraged to participate in a TRACCKING program. The team face a precarious situation when they were required to cross a ravine by traversing the same by hanging on the rope, Quite a few able bodied participants refused to be the first .Bhagvati took up the challenge and with ONE able hand and the other stub, she traversed the ravine which can be seen in the following photograp

WINGLESS BIRDS  FLEW TO USA

In 2006, 13 Physically challenged girls, TWO of whom could  NOT  even stand up on crutches  with Managing Trustee, Hon Secretary  and Hon. Adviser visited USA, New Jersey  and presented Cultural programs at World Gujarati Conference. Few of these girls who has not so far even traveled in Railway, flew in the aeroplane  The Bamboo dance, part of which was performed BLIND  folded; and which is difficult  for even normal girls   when presented by these girls  attracted the audience so  much  so that  the public  gave these girls  a  standing ovation.

The exercise was repeated in 2008  and new well organized programs  such as GONF, Dandia Ras  which  incorporated  National songs  and such other eye catching programs were presented
Both the trips  were very successful Some photographs of the events  are presented here under  and also in our Photo gallery

In short Manthan  strives to ensure that the otherwise able girls get exposure to  every opportunity  that they may get in their future and  come out successfully.
